One prominent billionaire by the name of Mark Cuban owner of the Dallas Mavericks wrecked his Crypto assets. The theft was worth $87,000.Mark talked to one reporting media known as DLV News early on the 15th of September and claimed that he was completely unaware of the misdeeds.
He later made it public that all this has made him lose $5 ETH which is around $8,175 at the moment. Furthermore, it was discovered that the victim had lost more than the 5 Eth. However, an approximate amount of $870,000 was lost on other different Crypto assets. Examples of stablecoin and tokens that were stolen include, Lido staked Ether, Ethereum Name Service, and SuperRare.Cuban that the hacker may have been monitoring his movements on Metamask since he was not that active there for almost 160 days.
He added that he had been looking for Circle, not MetaMask, on Google, and that the MetaMask may have served as a point of entry for the con artists to access his private keys or seed phrases, allowing them to empty his Metamask wallets. More from his talk, he said that:
“MetaMask crashed a couple of times. I just stopped. Then you emailed me. So I locked my NFTs on OpenSea. Transferred all my Polygon in the account.”
Blockchain investigator Wazz made the initial finding of the hack after he saw odd activity in one of Cuban’s wallets that the businessman had not interacted with in a while. Regulatory authorities should, however, work on creating more security measures to secure users’ assets.
