22,500 ETH Worth $38M Stolen From FTX Before Sam Bankman Trial

FTX recently experienced another misdeed from hackers who got away with around $38 million. Before the start of Sam Bankman’s trial, it was detected that a wallet linked to a hack of the defunct FTX exchange had moved $38 million of ether since it started operating over the weekend.

Over the course of the weekend, the attacker moved 22,500 ETH, totaling $38 million. These transactions mark the first fund movements from the address since the hacking that occurred on the 17th of November last year.

It was reported that privacy tools like RailGun and THORChain were used to carry out the misdeed. With the help of these privacy tools, the hackers managed to carry out a huge transfer of around 6,250 ether which is approximately $10.46 million. According to on-chain data analysis that was reported on the 30th of September.

However, this attack did not end here THROChain was later to make 12,250 ether on 1st October, as Arkham intelligence. Other data analyst companies like SportOnChain have a clear recap of the transfers and how each one of them was carried out.

According to SportOnChain,7,749 of ether with an approximate worth of $13 million was transferred to the same privacy tools THORChain and Railgun. They later continued stating that the hacker purchased 153.4 tBTC that was selling at $27,281 per token for 2,500 ether, which is approximately $4.19 million.

Individuals concerned about the fate of ETH price after the attack

This incident has raised worry and concern for its community users. Arkham intelligence continues to state according to its analysis that the exchange hackers still hold back 3.9 million which is equal to 163,249 ETH. However, a total of $289 million of digital assets is already at stake as it is currently being held by the hackers.

The sudden occurrence has recently raised alarming questions about the fate of ETH on the market. Its price is more likely to plunge than to surge.
